SEPT. 8, 1951-APR. 24, 2017
Linda F. Travis, 65, of Merced, California went to be with the Lord on April 24, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center, with family nearby.
She was born September 8, 1951 in Wichita Falls, Texas, the daughter of the late Charlie Mae and Horace Lee Smith.  She was the fourth child of 5 siblings. In her early years she graduated from Booker T. Washington High School and attended Texas A.M. University on an athletic scholarship.  She later relocated to Merced, California where she resided and met her husband, Herman Travis Jr. whom she married on August 2, 1980.
She is survived by her loving husband, Herman Travis Jr., son, Bryant Smith, brother, Robert Smith, sisters, Vera Smith, Shirley Black and Dinah Smith and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from 5-7 pm at Wilson Family Funeral Chapel, 1290 Winton Way, Atwater, CA. 95301. The Home Going Service will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 11 AM also at Wilson Chapel in Atwater. Burial will follow at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 West McCabe Rd. Santa Nella, CA. 95322 at 2 PM.
