Russell Adelson Obituary

Fresno, California - Dr. Russell Adelson passed away on December 7, 2020. He was born in New York on May 15, 1948 to Nat and Lucille Adelson. The family began their movement West when he was 14, settling in Los Angeles. He graduated from USC and went on to earn his doctorate at California School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Adelson practiced psychology in Fresno and Merced County for 44 years. He was an accomplished pianist who studied at Carnegie Hall in his teens and a world traveler who visited all continents except Antarctica. He also was a film buff and historian with an astute eye for detail, as well as appreciating theater. He was known for his wicked sense of humor and enjoyment of good fun. Of all the things he enjoyed, his family was always number one.
He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of 44 years Dr. Betty Jarman, daughters Kendra Adelson of Santa Cruz and Dr. Danen Adelson of Sacramento, her husband Phil Whitsett, his grandchildren Peyton and Everett Whitsett, and his brother Stuart Adelson of Fresno.
A unique person, he is missed by all.

My brother Russell was my favorite brother; he was also my only brother! That humor is given to balance the sense of humor that Russ had with the sadness of losing him shared by myself, his wife, his two daughers, and two grandchildren. He left us way too early but he left many wonderful people and things to remember him by. Rest in peace my brother Russ.
