Alice Perry
July 24, 1930 - February 20, 2018
Los Gatos
Alice Perry, long time resident of Los Gatos, passed away with her loving family surrounding her on Tuesday, February 20, 2018. Cherished by her loved ones, she is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Charles, her three grateful children, Charles, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Sacramento, Beverly (Louis) Ulery, of Delray Beach, FL, and Virginia (Christopher) Lamb of New Milford, NJ, six adored and adoring grandchildren, Briana (Matthew) Stoops, Courtney Ulery, Keilly Ulery, Casey (Courtney) Lamb, Brandon Perry, and Jody Lamb, three sisters and a brother, admiring cousins, and a host of nieces and nephews. In her own words her family "gave me nothing but joy." A woman who "enjoyed running things," Alice was the ultimate family CEO. She created a warm and wonderful home, loved all her family deeply, and was loved in return. In particular "Mimi" was a role model and inspiration to her grandchildren with her zest for living and unstoppable spirit and will.
Born on July 24, 1930 in Taunton, MA to Charles and Anna Ryan, Alice was blessed with a long, happy life and considered herself so fortunate to have spent 49 years living in Los Gatos. She enjoyed a very active social life, entertaining, and the richest friendships, many forged nearly 50 years ago in the local Newcomers' Club. She loved travel, bridge, reading, classical music and opera. A prolific artist throughout her adult life, her many paintings fill the walls of her home. Generosity resided at the core of Alice's heart. It spilled out onto her entire family as well as her friends and neighbors and prompted years of very rewarding and fulfilling volunteer work, most notably at The Village House and Garden in Los Gatos.
Alice and her family thank Seasons Hospice and her special care givers for their attentive help and kindness in these last few months. Donations in her memory can be made to the Salvation Army or the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford.
An indomitable spirit who loved life and certainly lived it to the fullest, it is only fitting that she have the final say on what she did best, living: "A glass of Zinfandel for all, and may the family adventure continue in this vein."
