Resident of Los Altos
Amjad Noorani, who immigrated to the United States in 1971 to establish a successful physical therapy practice in the Salinas Valley, and became a passionate advocate for education reform in Pakistan, died on June 3, 2022, in Los Altos, CA. He was 75.
Surrounded by his family, including Najma, his wife of 52 years, Amjad peacefully passed away after a two-year fight with pancreatic cancer.
Somewhere around 1996, Amjad learned about The Citizens Foundation, an organization dedicated to the education of underprivileged children in Pakistan. Before they knew it, their 1999 retirement from physical therapy was replaced by a dedication to The Citizens Foundation as Amjad and Najma volunteered to raise funds and build support for TCF-USA.
Since his passing, teachers and students across Pakistan who benefited from his work have reached out with their gratitude.
Amjad is survived by his wife, Najma, children, Ali (Toya), Zeba (Rusty), and Farah (Salim). He was a grandfather to Aysha, Aziza and Zenaya and brother to Nilou (Gunther), many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents Abdul and Aziza, and brothers Obaid (surviving spouse Nuzhat) and Hamid (surviving spouse Jenny).
