Anna Papadakis Obituary

Devoted wife to Spiros “Bud” Papadakis, who preceded her in death in 2001. Loving mother to daughter, Marie (Vince) Russo and Spiros II (deceased) (Lorrie) Papadakis. Devoted Grammy to Naval CDR. Nick (Rebecca) Russo, Janelle (Mario) Lara, Spiros III, and Giana (Mike) Wheless. Beloved Great-Grammy to Jacob, Chloe, Nicholas & Ben. Adored by her many nieces, nephews and friends. Born in Sebastopol, CA on November 23, 1930, to Robert and Mary Ellen Johnson, Ann moved to San Francisco where she met and married Bud in 1947. Ann and Bud moved with their young family from San Francisco to Pacifica in 1955 where Ann has lived for more than 57 years. She was warm, loving and dedicated to her family and friends. While son Bud was growing up, you could always find her at “White Field” cheering him and his friends on and continued cheering through his days at Terra Nova High School, CSM, Cal Poly SLO and during his coaching career in San Carlos. She continued to be a cheerleader for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to share in their scholastic and athletic achievements. She was known as “Mom” to many of Bud and Marie’s friends who still refer to her as “Mom”. Ann loved her garden and could be found in her yard planting, transplanting and manicuring all year round. Ann and Bud were also 1st Place Winners of the Christmas display completion in Pacifica in the 1960’s with their homemade lawn decorations. Bud cut them out and she painted each one with love and pride. Even though struggling with a myriad of medical and physical issues throughout her later years, she remained upbeat and always enjoyed the company of family and friends. She will forever be remembered in the hearts and minds of all who knew her. Her family would like to thank everyone for all their love and support during this difficult time. Funeral services will be held at the Chapel at Skylawn Memorial Park in San Mateo on Friday, June 1st at 11 a.m. Special thanks to her wonderful nurses and her dedicated doctors at Peninsula Hospital. Donations can be made to American Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.

Grammy, I miss you everyday. It´s hard not to think about you and Papa being I´m living in your house. Sometimes I believe in the afterlife and that you and Papa and Uncle Bud are together. That helps sometimes. I´m so sorry how you passed, I wish we had you in a nicer place, you deserved to be. You took care of everyone and did an amazing job, I really don´t know how you did it all but I appreciate it more and more as I get older. I´m so lucky to have such an amazing, loving, caring, funny, precious perfect love from all of my grandparents. I miss you, that goes without saying. I sit in your chair in your living room and I´m sorry it´s probably not like the way you would have it but I did keep everything the same in the front room, why not? We bought most of it together. We had some great times, great dinners, great family, thank you for being the head of all that and for taking such good care of Nick and I for so many years. I have a lot of great memories in this house even chicken pox. Thank you for letting us stay here, it´s been nice being so close to mom and dad so they can visit Mario. Thank you for everything you´ve done for me, while you were with us and even now.
I just miss you guys a lot. I want a hug and to hear you call me honey again. Your daughter is doing a wonderful job at being a grandma too! I think you would be proud of her. I love you and miss you so much Grammy. If you are out there somewhere I hope you´re smiling and giving Papa lots of hugs. xoxo

I will miss "Mom # 2" so much. Great memories of Marie and I growing up. What started out as having a 2nd. mom, turned into a lifetime friend. Please give Bud Sr. and hug from me...and kick Buddy in the butt.....Love, Maureen

We miss you so much Grammy! There's so much to say about her because she's been involved in every aspect of my life. I appreciated being able to tell each other secrets and talking about just anything and everything. I still pick up the phone to call her. She will be remembered by all of us for the funny and sweet Grammy that she always will be.
