Annabelle Garetz
March 26, 1921 - April 3, 2013
Resident of Hercules
Annabelle (Andy) Garetz died peacefully from natural causes in Hercules, California. She was born in Danville, Illinois, graduated from Western College then moved to San Jose, California. In 1975 she moved to The Sea Ranch. Andy was a master bridge player and a skilled violinist. She was known for her keen intellect, interest in current events and involvement in her communities. She passed on to her children and grandchildren her love of the environment and the responsibility to protect it and was always surrounded by cats and dogs, mostly rescue animals. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Corabelle Johnson, sister, Hazel Johnson, husband, Dr. Michael A. Garetz and son, Daniel Garetz. She is survived by her children, Bill, Kate, Sara, Greg (Gina) and grandchildren Rachel, Michael and James. At her request, there will be no memorial service, but memorial donations can be made to the Symphony of the Redwoods or to your local animal shelter.
