Anthony Matisi Obituary

Resident of Watsonville
Anthony Frances Matisi passed away unexpectedly. He studied architecture at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and graduated in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science degree. In 1976, he joined the Palo Alto architecture firm of Erlich Heft Rominger. In 1978, Anthony became one of the founding partners of CAS Architects where he practiced as a Principal for the next 38 years designing buildings for Silicon Valley's leading technology companies.
Anthony had a passion and zest for life. His favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing and horseback riding at his ranch in Watsonville. He was a true Renaissance Man who possessed a personality bigger than life itself, with a laugh and smile to match. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survived by his loving wife of 34 years Vicky Matisi; mother Dolores J. Matisi; brothers: David Matisi (Kris Lee) of San Francisco & Michael Matisi of San Mateo; sister-in-law Kathy Stashuk; "sister" Sue Bock of Endicott, NY; and many nieces, nephews & cousins. Preceded in death by his father Peter P. Matisi.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

From the first time I met Anthony, probably at the Pub, he was always the friendliest guy with a great smile and a big voice. His interest in horses and the US Cavalry always gave us a lot to talk about. Really miss his great personality as he was so much larger than life.

Anthony, when you entered any room, you were 10 feet tall. You lived each day to the fullest and made a great life for yourself. You had a laugh that made everyone smile. You had a big heart and so much love bursting through your beautiful suits. You unconditionally brought joy to everyone you met. The loyalty you had to your family and to the Matisi name, made me proud to call you my friend. I will never forget you and always remember you. Hats off to you Anthony. Dear Vicky,
We just found out about Anthony and his passing away. We are so sorry for your loss. You are very blessed to have shared 34 years together. Losing a loved one is very difficult and I hope you have the comfort of friends, family and fond memories to make this time a little easier. We are so glad we got to spend time with you and Anthony while on the river trip last summer. We'll never forget his colorful storytelling and infectious laugh!

My growing up was very wonderful as Anthony and I experienced wonderful families to help us learn about life . I couldn't have had a better friend we complemented each other . Thank you Tony I will see you again, and we gave San Mateo and supported football to the fullest.I know you will be missed thanks for being my friend growing up with you was

Anthony was one of the best architects I've worked with and an even better person away from the office. Years ago we rode Cal Train to Gilroy and had some memorable times during the Thursday party car on the train. He was a good friend and I will miss him.

Anthony was a friend who touched and inspired everyone he met. I worked with him on several development projects where he was lead architect. Enormously talented, he lived life large and enjoyed every minute of it. He was the most positive minded person I have ever known. If a problem presented itself, Anthony response was always "Let's figure out how to fix this" and in no time he would offer a number of solutions. He was a great man and I will miss him.
