To the Ehlers family- I'm very sorry to learn of the passing of Carl. I can remember the day I came to N. Second St to view the studio apartment that was advertised for rent. It was about all I could afford on my minimum wage job. I was just a kid barely 18 years old- seeking to move out on my own for the first time. Nervous and unsure of myself. Carl was so kind and assured my mom that I would be safe. I stayed in that apartment for 4 years and not one time in all those years to he raise my rent. Not once. He was a really nice landlord and helped me find my way. A year in, I met Carl's son, Bob! (Hi Bob if you ever read this)- He proved to be a very important part of my life for the next 3 years and as I approach 60- I do continue to see/or talk to him occassionally. I am very sorry for the loss of a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be remembered always- by me anyway!
