Carol Fosco Obituary

Carol Rose McDonald Fosco

Resident of San Jose

68, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday July 18th, 2012. She will be remembered and missed by those she left behind.

Carol was born on January 22, 1944 in Durham North Carolina to James D. and Ellen McDonald. She was raised in Elgin Illinois with her brother James Jr. with whom she was close. She graduated from Purdue University in 1966 with a BA in elementary education. She married Patrick Fosco and moved to California, living in Cupertino for nearly 30 years, raising two sons. Following their divorce in 1995, she moved to San Jose and began teaching at Dilworth Elementary school, where she was recognized for her accomplishments as an educator and her genuine concern for her students. She was devoted to her family and friends, and found her greatest joy in the presence of those she held dear. She was an avid participant in the activities of her children and grandchildren; perhaps her favorite pastime was to share stories and laughs over a good meal. A lover of animals, she revered her pets. She enjoyed following her favorite sports teams, the Chicago Cubs, the San Francisco Giants, and the Purdue Boilermakers as a spirited fan. She found strength and guidance in her devotion to the Catholic Church, through the end.

Carol is survived by her two sons, Brian and Greg Fosco, her grandchildren Luca and Gianna Fosco, and her younger brother, James McDonald Jr.

The family will hold a Catholic vigil at the Cusimano Family Colonial Mortuary in Mountain View on Wednesday July 25, 7:00 PM. The funeral will be held at St Joseph's Church in Cupertino on Thursday July 26, 11:00 AM. A reception following will be held at Bella Mia's restaurant in downtown San Jose. Carol's final resting place will be in Elgin, Illinois in the company of her parents and grandparents. Thank you to all who have reached out. We would be happy to see Carol's friends at her services.

Hi Greg,

So sorry to hear about your mom. I have fond memories of the times I spent with you and her in Wilson Ct. I remember her blasting Neal Diamond. Awesome.

Anyway...The tears will calm; they will heal a little bit more and more as the years go on. Hang in there.

Keith
