Christopher Mort Obituary

Christopher Phillip Mort
October 1, 1984 - January 14, 2022
Former Resident of Santa Clara
Christopher Phillip Mort passed away unexpectedly on January 14, 2022 in Boise Idaho, with his family at his side. Although his life was too short, it was filled with adventure, kindness, and love. He will be most remembered by his infectious smile and dedication to his 5-year-old son, Beau Phillip Mort.
Christopher was born in Los Gatos, California and raised in Santa Clara. He graduated from St. Lawrence Academy and entered the United States Navy in October 2004. He was a Navy Corpsman and spent two tours in Iraq with his Marine Unit stationed in Twentynine Palms, California. He retired from the military in 2010 with several decorations, including Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Good Conduct Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, 2 Sea Service Deployment Ribbons , National Defense Service Medal, and Iraq Campaign Medal. After the Navy, he relocated to Parma, Idaho. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fan of duck hunting and boating. He spent many hours in the duck blinds and running his boat up and down the Snake River.
Christopher is survived by his son Beau, his mother and father Diane and Phillip Mort, his brother and sister-in-law Timothy and Courtney Mort, his sister and brother-in-law Alison and Dante Gentile and his two nephews Jack and Joey Gentile. Christopher is survived by his Granddad Richard Welchons of New Hartford, New York and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He also leaves behind his beloved service dog Doc.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Christopher's name at www.labsforliberty.org where all funds will go to pair another dog and Veteran.

It´s with great sadness, that I want to express my condolences and deep sympathy to Phil, Diane, Courtney, Timmy, and your entire family. I can´t begin to imagine what you´re all going through right now. What I do know and remember, was how wonderful and respectful, Christopher and his supportive family always were. I always enjoyed seeing the smiles and love that came with all of you, at all the Little League game´s. My heart and soul aches for each of you now. Reading how Christopher grew up to serve and honor his Country and family, doesn´t surprise me one bit. What an honorable young man, and May God Bless him, along with each of you, during this difficult and challenging time. Just knowing him and his family from Little League, he was just an outstanding young kid, as were all the Mort children, which is a credit to Phil and Diane. It´s time´s like these that we always want to reach out and help in any way we can. Offer support in any way. With words being all I can offer at the moment, may I comfort you with a few thoughts and prayers. One in knowing that God loves us more than we do. God loves our Children more than we do, which has always been a hard one to digest; since we love, care, and raise them with every ounce of our being. If this is true, then why God? This is something that none of us know? Our deepest beliefs and fears live in the bows of our faith. Our Trust in God, is all we can have. Letting Go and Letting God, is much harder than one knows, till you´re there. God promises us that he´ll always be there for us. What he took, was Christopher´s body. What he left us with, was Christopher´s spirit. Christopher´s spirit is alive and well. He´s now, your family and his Son´s guardian angel. His guiding and holy spirit. If I didn´t witness with my own granddaughter, when she lost her father a couple year´s ago, then I never would´ve seen it. We rallied around my daughter and granddaughter. We asked God to help us move forward, and to guide us in every way. Love conquers all things, and Love is what we knew. It was God! We had no choice but to lean on our faith, hope, and love. Now, two year´s later? We´re stronger in our faith and our belief in God, than we´ve ever been. Yes, there´s still unanswered questions and loss. We´ve coped by keeping her Dad´s spirit alive with us. We´ve figured our way out, as you will too. In the meantime, stay together in everything you do and feel. You´re a winning team that WILL find yourselves again. God and Christopher will be right there with you every step of the way. As you have told him his entire life that he can do it, it is now he, who is guiding you. Listen to him, like he did you. For it is he, who is holding the light now. God Bless all of You, and from an old friend in Little League; we´re sending all our love, prayers, and support. Wish we could do more, but I know you´ll all be better in time. God works mysteriously through us, and now he´s working through Christopher. Amen

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. Words cannot express my sadness for you and your family. Christopher was a shining star at St. Justin - a wonderful, kind, and respectful young man, with a beautiful smile. May your memories bring you comfort and joy.
The Morts - all of you were - such a positive, happy, encouraging family. With my thoughts and prayers.

We pray Chris is at peace, He was our neighbor, becoming our friend. He & Beau came over to vist a few times. We ate together and spent time. We could'nt be ever more sorry at his passing. He was a pleasure to know, we wanted to share more with him, especially the Bible. God bless all whom loved and survived Him.

Chris was very special to us and our Labs for Liberty family. A selfless young man, quick to laugh, devoted to those he loved. He adored his son Beau, and dog Doc. We will miss his texts and calls. Taken too soon. Gone but not forgotten. We love you Chris.
