Daniel R. Petersen longtime resident of San Jose passed away April 26, 2021. Dan was born July 19, 1946 in Sioux City, IA. In his youth he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad. He attended South Sioux City High School before joining the United States Air Force. While stationed in Sacramento, CA Dan met and married the love of his life, Linda Thompson with whom he was married to for over 55 years. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Dan and Linda relocated to San Jose, CA where they settled and raised their family.
Dan began his career at GE where he worked his way up to buyer then transitioned to National Semiconductor where he retired in 2006 as a Sr. Purchasing Manager. Dan was a faithful 49er and Giants fan. He was a longtime San Jose Sharks season ticket holder, going back to their first season at the Cow Palace. After retirement Dan enjoyed spending time with friends, traveling with Linda in their RV and playing golf. Dan especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Dan is survived by his wife Linda, son Sean Petersen, daughter Toni Van Boening (Bob), grandchildren Emily Van Boening and Jason Van Boening, sisters Kathy Hering and Jayne Petersen and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Diabetes Association.
