"When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced. Live your life so that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice." ~ Your light is so missed!

"I believe the soul continues on and blesses those he loved, and those who loved him. Just happens that way. His heart- that deep sense of love will continue on. It's not for us to understand how or where, but I believe this is how angels are made. He may be sitting around some Holy camp fire in a forest long gone, with a bunch of his old passed friends…communing on nature and the flow of eternity- life- death- pizzas. What a concept…." These are some of Dave's own words (written after my step-father passed) a few years ago. I wanted to share this with his friends and loved ones, as the words are as profound as his life. We are heartbroken... and yet blessed to have called him a friend.

I love you Dave. I miss you so much. Cancer is evil and you were the last person I thought would be a victim. I love you so much and miss you beyond belief. You were the best husband, the best father and the greatest man I have ever known. I know I'm late in posting but I know you understand. I will love you forever.

Life is sometimes not fair. I admire Dave's courage and strength throughout his battle and will carry wonderful memories the rest of my life. Playing pool and drinking beer in San Jose...good times. I hope the hereafter is ready for you!!

Words are never enough. Feelings translate poorly. The legacy that is Dave Otterness will last an eternity, in the hearts and souls of friends and family alike. You left us all too soon, Dave. We were only just getting started on this earth. Know that you are loved, your friendship cherished, and your passing kindness remembered for a lifetime. We will miss you, my friend.

God's Blessings to you all, family and friends of Dave. I didn't ever see enough of him in my lifetime, but the moments we did share are memories that will last forever simply because Dave's spirit moved to all who were around him. My heart goes out, to us all really. I Know Dave had a lot more to give to this world, but was stopped so short, so young. My only consolation is knowing he is safe, at rest, and with those we also love SO MUCH who have gone on before us. Holding Dave and those he loved in my prayers, Jean (cousin, North Dakota.)
