David Raphael Castro

David Raphael Castro, age 92, departed for heaven on Wednesday 11/29/2023.David, born in San Jose, California, was a 1949 graduate from San Jose's Abraham Lincoln High School and a lifelong resident of San Jose and Los Gatos. David served in the US Army, and subsequently earned his mechanical engineering bachelors degree from San Jose State University in 1957. David's early position as a production supervisor at Micropoint, a Sunnyvale ballpoint pen company, was followed by his senior facilities engineer position at Signetics, a local semiconductor wafer manufacturer, for a total career of more than 40 years. He was a devoted parent supporter of Los Gatos Boy Scout Troop 539, and a volunteer for the Saint Vincent De Paul charities for many years, and he will be remembered by many for his good humor and caring.David, who loved his country, is survived by his sister-in-law Jacklyn Herup of Moses Lake, WA, and preceded by his wife of 65 years, Nancy Castro, and his brother Carl Castro of New York. He is survived by four sons Christopher (& Sherry) Castro, Jonathan David (& Cindi) Castro, Michael (& Elizabeth) Castro, Steven (& Thuy) Castro, and one daughter Lisa (& Robert) Coffaro. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, Tara Castro and Brenna Castro Carlson, Spencer, Sara (Vidaurri), Jocelyn and Gregor Coffaro, Katie (McLaughlin) and Laura (Kamsler) Castro, Zachary and Theresa Castro, and David Rafael II and Daniel Castro, and three great-grandchildren: Alden and Evelyn Vidaurri, and Emilia Carlson. Through his life, David 'Pops' Castro was a wellspring of love for his extended family, and they will miss him dearly.A burial service is planned at Los Gatos Memorial Park.
