David Hull Obituary

David I. Hull, M.D. Died February 14, 2008 in Cupertino of natural causes. He was 87. Born January 3, 1921 in the West family farmhouse, Dave spent his boyhood in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. Dave graduated from Cornell College, also in Mt. Vernon, as a biology major in 1943 and attended University of Iowa Medical School graduating in 1947. After residency training in orthopedics he, Connie, and their young family traveled to Germany where he served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. Completing his Army career in 1955, his family settled in Palo Alto, where Dave enjoyed a 40-year orthopedic surgery practice. He also served for many years as an adjunct assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at Palo Alto-Stanford Hospital. During his long medical career, Dave developed an expertise in treating ski injuries which, as well as other areas of sports medicine, remained a much-enjoyed subspecialty field throughout his career. He was a tireless innovator, and not only developed therapeutic and surgical methods of treating skiing and sports injuries, but advanced ski binding safety systems as well. His great love of the outdoors and snow and water skiing was lovingly passed along to his family and grandchildren. Dave is survived by his wife of 64 years, Connie Brooks Hull of Cupertino, his children Jean Hull Beckmann of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Gary David Hull of Portland, Oregon, and Gail Hull Stuart of Manitou Springs, Colorado, his brother, Arthur Morris Hull of Ft. Worth, Texas, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Family services have been held.

David helped save my life and put me back together after an accident on June 20, 1960 where I suffered the complete break of two femurs, etc.
He also assisted greatly in my rehab.
I will be forever grateful!
