David Voss Obituary

VOSS, David Anthony -- Touched many lives with his warmth, kindness, giving and humor. He passed away peacefully on January 2, 2004 at the age of 68. David was born on December 18, 1935 on his family property in Cupertino, Ca. He is the third generation of the Voss family who settled in Cupertino in the late 1800's. David lived and worked his entire life on the family lands he loved so much in Cupertino. He graduated from Bellarmine College Preparatory, in Santa Clara and then followed in his father's footsteps in the family business. In the mid 1960's David became president of Stevens Creek Quarry, Inc. after his father retired. David raised his own family of three children with his wife on the family lands. David carried on through his life with passion all the family traditions that meant so much to him, such as the Sunday BBQs for family and friends and so many more. Throughout his life, David was an aivd outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Most of all David enjoyed being with his family and friends. He traveled the world with his family and friends for pleasure and to pursue his passion for the outdoors. David was active in many local community organizations and gave his time and resources to those without even asking for thanks. His greatest love was for helping children and he gave most of his time and resources to those organizations who help children. In 1997, he was given the honor by the city of Cupertino of Citizen of the Year. David's greatest gift to his family and frriends was his calmness and his willingness to listen and help at any time. He is survived by his loving wife Joyce of 49 years, their children Deborah Voss-Montero, Richard Voss, Diana Voss-Pruett and their spouses Larry Montero, Denise Voss and Bradley Pruett. Caring grandfather of Mitch, Mike, Anthony, and David Montero, Jodi and Jason Voss; his brother Butch Voss and two sisters, Frances Torres and Anne Zamzow and many nieces, nephews and cousins. The Memorial Services and Celebration of David's life will be held starting with visitation on Saturday, January 10, 2004 from 4:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at LIMA FAMILY MORTUARY, 1315 Hollenbeck Ave., Sunnyvale. Rich, Jack and I are sad to hear about your dad. Jack and I wish to extend our condolences.

Your dad was very helpful in my time of need. I was glad to help out in the past few years with Ladies night. My family and I thanked him every chance we got, but that still doesn't seem to be enough.

Wishing you well,

Jack & Lillian Miller
