Diana Showman Obituary
Resident of San Jose
Our beloved daughter, Diana Marie Showman, passed away tragically on August 14, 2014. She was 19 years old.
In her short life Diana excelled at athletics, especially softball and baseball. She was a member of the West Valley Slammers and played for Leigh High School. Also, she was a fixture at Cambrian Park Little League where she assisted in any way she could.
Diana will forever be missed and mourned by her parents, Jim and Vickie Showman, her brothers, Jerry and Robbie, and numerous relatives and friends.
Despite suffering from debilitating bipolar disorder all her life, Diana was compassionate, bold, determined and loving. Filled with loyalty, kindness and fun, Diana made friends wherever she went, and could strike up a conversation with ease and confidence. She taught those of us who loved her, patience and empathy.
A memorial service is scheduled on Friday, August 22nd, 2PM at Presbyterian Church-Los Gatos, 16575 Shannon Rd., Los Gatos, 95032. A reception for all well-wishers will follow at the Showman home.

We're very sad to hear about Diana. One of the memories I've always carried with me from our last trip out there is carrying Diana on my shoulders around the outside of her Grandma's house, and how much she enjoyed it. We'll keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Our family is so sad to hear the news... Diana was always so sweet to the children at the West Valley softball field. She knew all the younger siblings by name and always said hi to the younger players. She somehow knew all of the players names! Diana always complimented our daughter Sydney after she umpired a game and made every kid feel special. Even though we did not know her beyond the softball field, she was always a familiar face at the games and made our children feel special. Our hearts are broken after hearing the news. I did not know your beautiful daughter, but I also lost a beautiful daughter at the age of 19 to depression. I am so very sad to read this and my heart aches for your loss. I am Maria Holmes, my daughter Shannon Holmes, played softball for years with Diana. She even came out to the field when my youngest daughter played for West Valley a couple of years ago. While I didn't know Diana personally, I did enjoy her involvement in umping my daughter's softball games this past season. She was a Slammer at heart and you could see her passion for softball shine through when she was behind the plate. It is very important for young woman (girls) to see role models in youth sports and she was one of them. She will be missed!
