Diane Ellis Obituary

Diane Paton Ellis
August 1933 - April 2021
Carmel
Diane Paton Ellis passed away peacefully at home on April 7, 2021, and now is reunited with her beloved Kenny. She fought a year-long battle with cancer with amazing strength, courage, and grace. Diane was born in San Diego, CA to Dr. Charles and Molly Ryder, and grew up on Point Loma with her two older sisters, Alison and Charlene. Diane displayed great musical talent as a young child, and entertained family and friends with her beautiful piano playing her entire life.
After graduating from high school she attended San Diego State and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. A year into her studies she met a handsome, young Navy pilot at a party. Ken and Diane married in April 1953, and she began her career as a loving wife and mother. Diane was extremely proud of her five children, Shelly, Denise, Kim, Bob, and Jeff, and the family had great fun camping, boating, and going on many trips and adventures. They settled in Saratoga, CA in 1963 where Diane took great pride in her home and entertaining friends and family. In 1979 Ken and Diane moved to Carmel, and made more lifelong friends, enjoying tennis, houseboating, and socializing. After Ken retired from United Air Lines in 1989, they traveled the country in their motor coach, cruised the world, and spent time with family. Diane's zest for life, her beauty, style, and grace was renowned. She loved music, dancing, good food, and rarely missed a party. Her example of love, strength, and the importance of family will be remembered always, and her incredible spirit will be dearly missed.
Preceded in death by husband, Kenneth, parents, Molly and Charles, sisters Alison and Charlene, and granddaughter, Nicole. Survived by children, Michele (Detlev), Denise, Kimberly, Robert (Kathy), and Jeffrey; grandchildren, April, Clay (Courtney), Korinn (Myles), Cliff (Lisa), Derek (Alisa), Janelle (Jeff), Brittany (Mike), Kyle, Kelsey, Payton, Kenny & Nikki; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Molly, Kaitlynn, Elliot, Harper, Westy, Ryder, Mickey, Vivian, Ida, and Milo, her loving nieces and nephews, and dear companion Brett.
A celebration of Diane's life will be held on October 2, 2021, at the Los Gatos Lodge, Los Gatos, CA. Please contact the family for details.
