Don Lee Phelps

May 6, 1955 - April 1, 2006On April 1, 2006, Don lost his valiant fight with ALS/Lou Gehrig's Disease. He was and will always be remembered a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, son, brother, and friend, he is survived by his wife Sandy, his children, Brandi Grissom, Heath Farthing, Rachel Mendez, James Phelps, Colette Froehlich, and Mary Jane Thompson, Grandchildren Scotty, Shelby, Kaysie, Madison, Cody, Gehrig, and Katy, niece and nephew, Sabrina and Scott Hatton, mother and father Bob and Carol Phelps, brothers Bob, Scott, and Jerry Phelps, and dearest family members Jim Morris, Bill, Cyndy, Katie, and Layna Justice. Don, a graduate of Oak Grove High School, was a long time employee of Kaiser/Hanson Cement where he left many friends and co-workers. He dedicated his life to peace, love, laughter, and harmony. He will be best remembered for his love of family, friends, humor, baseball, the Beatles, music, and his overall joy and respect for life. He was an accomplished song writer, singer, poet and novelist. He will be truly missed, but his memory will live on in those of us who were blessed by knowing him, and by the courageous, peaceful and loving example he set for us each and everyday of his life, short as it might have been. A "Celebration of His Life" is planned April 14, 2006, at Montevideo, 1585 Monteval Lane, San Jose, Ca., 95120, at 3:00 p.m., corner of Camden and Coleman Avenues.For those wishing to make donations please do so to the following research team, Forbes Norris MDA/ALS Clinic, 2324 Sacramento Street, Suite 111, San Francisco, CA., 94115, in the name of Don Lee Phelps.
