Donna Sample Obituary

Donna Jean Sample

Resident of Redwood City

Donna Jean Leonard Elder Sample passed away on Tuesday, April 13 after losing her third valiant battle with breast cancer. She was 63. Although Donna's first fight began ten years ago, she was determined to never let the disease rob her of the joys of friendships and family. Donna was born and raised in San Mateo and spent most of her adult life in Redwood City . The single mom supported herself and her two children working in high-tech manufacturing, taking on side jobs during tough times. She was a gifted cook, seamstress and crafter and loved reading, travel, bowling, dance and meeting neighbors as she walked with her beloved dogs. Donna will be remembered for her strength by her son Kenny Elder, daughter Sandy Gomez, grandsons Brady and Parker Gomez, dog Lucky, bird Bandit and countless loving friends. A memorial gathering will take place on Sunday, May 2 at 2 p.m. at the home of Stan and Barbara Silverstein, 1111 Eden Bower Lane , Redwood City . In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Breast Cancer Emergency Fund, a local organization that helped Donna and others like her meet basic financial needs. Visit bcef-sf.org.
