Eliza Lee Obituary

Eliza Lee
Sept. 20,1960 - Dec. 8, 2012
Resident of Sunnyvale
On Saturday morning at Stanford Hospital, Eliza lost her courageous battle with acute myeloid leukemia. Although our hearts are broken, it is comforting to know she is no longer suffering and finally resting in peace. She spent her last days in the loving care of her husband, Chris and daughter, Sarah, and also with her parents Edward and Elizabeth, and devoted sister, Debby, by her side at Stanford. She never gave up hope despite the many setbacks she endured. For ten long months she did her very best and fought with tremendous courage, always with a smile, no matter how lousy she felt. Her kindness to everyone was apparent and she received much in return. The gentle, loving and positive presence she had was felt by so many around her.

Eliza is survived by her loving husband, Chris Kondo, her daughter, Sarah Kondo; Parents Edward and Elizabeth Lee; Sister Debby (Lee) Kelleher; Brother-in-law Stephen Kelleher; Nephews Jordan Kelleher, Andrew Kelleher, Kevin Kelleher; Father and mother-in-law Sueo and Jennie Kondo; Brother-in-law Sanford Kondo; Sister-in-law Wendy Kuba; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces.

Eliza was born in Washington D.C. As a child, Eliza traveled extensively with her family, living and attending schools in Holland, Singapore, Indonesia and Hong Kong. Upon returning to the US, Eliza attended the College of the Redwoods in Eureka, CA, and Heald College in San Francisco, CA, eventually settling in San Francisco. Eliza worked as an accountant in the financial services technology industries for many years. Her kind and gentle spirit always positively impacted those around her, no matter what culture she was in.

Eliza later met her dear husband Chris, and enjoyed many years together in Sunnyvale. Eliza and Chris were blessed with the arrival of their daughter Sarah who brought great happiness and wonderful times to Eliza. Eliza embraced service to Sarah's school and gave much of her time to supporting and coordinating school programs. Eliza was an active PTA member and on the executive board for many years. Her constant smile and easygoing personality made everyone around her feel welcome and comfortable. She received humble satisfaction from what she did, not needing the limelight.

"And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its shams, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy." We know this is what Eliza believed and we will hold her in our hearts forever.

A celebration of Eliza's life will take place on December 22, 2012, at 10:30 am at the Valley Presbyterian Church, 945 Portola Rd, Portola Valley. Should you wish to honor Eliza, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in memory of Eliza to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Chapter, 675 N. First St., Ste 1100, San Jose, CA. 95112

I am so saddened to hear about Eliza's passing. I too feel that we all formed a lifetime bond when we adopted our girls together. She will be forever missed. My deepest condolences to Chris, Sarah, and all of the Lee/Kondo family.

Dear Chris and Sarah,
Our deep felt condolences for your sweet mother. We have missed you all and especially her smile at our reunions these past years. Love to you both at this time of transition, please know there are many in group 58 who care deeply about you. We are all Ohana in every sense of the word so sorry we didn't know she was sick earlier. Glad we can always remember her fun spirit and happy times in China!

Ten years ago our families began a life changing journey together. We started that journey as strangers, and ended the journey as a family. We remember how Eliza could not stop smiling as she held Sarah in her arms. We remember how she embraced motherhood and was able to see the best in every person and every situation. Our lives changed for the better the day we met Eliza.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Chris, Sarah, and the Lee/Kondo Family.
