I was 18 when I started at Valley Title into Emery's world thanx to my sister "Aris" who was Pete Borello's secretary. I was proud to have Emery as my first mentor. So I thought I would give it a try for the next 45 years. We both ventured into other companies over the years but kept in touch through our yearly luncheons. Emery was an Icon in our business and was known and respected by any entity he was connected with. Title was not only work. Emery and the people around him made it a total enjoyment going to work and enjoyng LIFE.

Grace and blessings to you all.
My heart sank as I read this email. I knew the day was coming but it brings tears of sadness for all and yet for me a sincere joy of having known Emery and Gloria from the time I was a pup. I remember the lack of attention given to keeping his cars in good shape. . . I remember the wonderful days spent at their home having a BBQ in the back yard. I remember picking apricots off the big tree in the back yard and eating as many as I put in the buckets and getting a bad case of the hives from all the acidity in the apricots. I remember being (I just got up and closed my office door and put a "go away" sign on it) urged to sing "splish splash I was taking a bath" by Buddy Holly, from the kitchen with the window open onto the back padio where the adults were gathered. Mostly I remember (crying now) the wonderful kindness that Emery displayed to my mother especially, but to my dad Ray, and also me. We were not as financially secure and a businessman like Emery, but I never knew that until I got older. He was always so wonderful to us all. I can't believe I'm crying so, but it really hit me. I guess with Gloria's passing I still had Emery with his smile and stories, and kindness. I remember he took us to the country club a few years ago for lunch and it was a great time together. Wow, so many great memories and absolutely no bad ones. One of my favorite pictures of me is in front of their fireplace with my new Christmas sweater they had given me, I think I was 12 or 13 at the time. I love you Steve, and I will always remember your father with some of the greatest memories of my childhood, including the trips to the beach at Twin lakes, Santa Cruz, and all the stories I can't even say right now.
I'm going next door to the chapel, lighting a candle in you dad's memory and putting his name on out SFU Community Prayer Wall, which means we will pray for him and the family daily for a month. I cannot come out there as i have obligations that week, especially on Veteran's Day, the 11th. If I could see the obit at some point that would be great, plus anything else that is produced during this time of mourning for the family. Believe me, I know that Emery was not a church goer, but he had a wonderful outlook on life and was great in relationships with people. Life is all about relationships, community, and love. Emery Dunlap was pretty good at all three.
Love to all.
Can I send flowers to Los Gatos Terraces for the service????? Address? Also, may I have your address please.
