Erwin Wittenberg
Dec. 2, 1928 - Jan. 27, 2014
Resident of San Jose
A long time resident of San Jose entered to rest on January 27, 2014 at the age of 85. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Joann, son Michael and daughter in law Dee, daughter Julie, and five grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Lorraine, brother Marshall, and many nieces and nephews. He was a Korean War combat veteran who served his country with honor. He then graduated from the University of Toledo with a degree in mathematical engineering as a member of the Tau Beta Pi honor society. He and Joann moved to San Jose in 1957 where he enjoyed a long and successful career at Lockheed, earning many awards. Private family services have been held. The family asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Hospice of the Valley.

I worked with Erv from 1976-1980 at Lockheed. He and I worked on many projects together. He was one wonderful person, a mentor, and a friend. I contacted him a couple of times once I moved to the Seattle area but that was quite many years ago. My heart aches for his loss and the loss to his family. God bless to all.

I remember when we were living in Toledo on Glenwood Ave and he was 16 and I was 9. I made some cookies and he took one. It was so hard that he could not even bit into it, but threw it at me and I ducked. The cookie hit the wall behind me and put a dent into the plaster. When I think of my brother I always remember that incident. Love you Erwin, your sister Lorraine Harbaugh

What a wonderful man. Kind, caring and loving, a wonderful example for us all. He was a good friend and a sweet neighbor. I will hold him in my heart forever. I am honored I could call him my friend.
