Frank Bua Obituary

Frank John Bua
July 18, 1924 - March 12, 2017
Resident of San Jose
Passed away on March 12, 2017 at O'Connor Hospital in San Jose, CA. Born in Kenner, Louisiana to the late Frank Sr. and Josephine Bua. Beloved husband of the late Ann Bua, who passed away in 2009. Very loving and adored father to Dorothy Bua of San Jose. Loving brother of the late Joe Bua, Jake Bua, Sadie Bua Scaglione, Annie Bua Santangelo, Paul Bua, Lena Bua Sparacello and Mike Bua.
Frank married the love of his life, Ann Bua, on April 13, 1947 at Sacred Heart Church in San Jose. Frank came from a large family of 8. He attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and was an altar boy with his brother Paul Bua. Frank also attended Woodrow Wilson Junior High up the 8th grade and then worked to help support his parents. At the age of 18, Frank was drafted into the United States Army. Frank worked at various jobs included American Dairy, Borden's Dairy, Richmond Chase, Brickyard and the San Jose Hospital, as a surgical orderly for 10 years. After 10 years with the San Jose Hospital, he then worked as a custodian, at the San Jose State University. Frank later applied for the groundskeeper position, where he worked for 26 years and retired from that position.
Frank was on the San Jose Hospital Baseball Team as a pitcher. They played against the Pacific Telephone Company and the team won the trophy in 4th of July tournament in 1958. Frank played against his brother-in-law, Louis' team and won. Frank's wife was rooting for her husband's team and her brother's team. When Frank's wife, Ann, was asked why she was rooting for both teams, she said, "that's my husband and that's my brother."
Frank was a devoted catholic and loved going to church. He was the president of the Holy Name, member of the branch 4 ICF for many years, Shop Steward for local 411 and CSEA at San Jose State. Frank also belonged to the American Legion for over 50 years. He was in charge of the Bingo at Holy Cross Church and loved to call "Bingo!" Frank was in his glory and he did this for 30 plus years. He would go early to set up bingo machines, make coffee and cook hotdogs. Frank loved to make people laugh, especially as he called bingo ball 0-99 for 0-66.
He would play Santa Claus at Christmas time for operations shares on San Jose State campus. Also, for ICF branch 4 at Holy Cross Church, convalescent homes, hospitals for ill children, and for our family Christmas parties. Dad loved every minute of it. Frank loved wood working, making cable cars with seats inside, school bus, army jeep, bingo baskets, cell phone covers, crocheting bed spreads and even completed crocheting yellow sweater booties, when his daughter, Dorothy was born and coming home from the hospital. He loved to cook and make Italian food, such as; homemade bread and pizza, Italian sausage, ravioli, spinges, cannoli's, prune cakes, cucidati and biscotti cookies, all made from scratch. Frank will be loved and missed by so many people.

Dear Dorothy,

We are sadden by the loss of your dad. I remember when I first moved into the neighborhood, and watching you and your dad walk in the evening and stopping to chat with me. May he rest in peace.
