Frank Gaillard Obituary

Frank E Gaillard May 9, 1927 - October 15, 2007 Frank was born in Wichita, Kansas to Kathryn and Colonel Fred E Gaillard in 1927. He was graduated from West Point Military Academy in 1950 and spent two years serving in Korea on the front line. He married Joan Marie Hourigan on October 19th, 1957. Frank was a Colonel in the US Army, and spent 30 years as a Program Director in Silicon Valley before retiring to Auburn, California. Frank and Joanie lived at Lake of the Pines for the last 15 years, since they left Sunnyvale. Frank played tennis for 50 years, became a USTA tennis pro and coached students of all ages. He loved playing his trombone and piano in several bands. Frank taught tennis up until 12 days before he passed away peacefully in his home on October 15th, 2007. He battled cancer like a true soldier. He was an honorable and loving father and husband, and will be truly missed by his family, friends and students. He is survived by his wife Joanie, two daughters (Erin and Christy), two sons-in-law (Mike and James), five grand-daughters (Allison, Kelley, Anya, Libby, and Kathryn), sister Louise and his dog Dolly. There will be a celebration of Frank's life at the Fairbrae Swim and Racquet Club on Saturday, November 3rd from 2 - 4 p.m. Burial of his ashes will be at West Point Military Academy in the Spring of 2008. In lieu of flowers, please send scholarship donations to the LOP Tennis Gaillard Memorial Fund, care of Richard Knowlden, President LOP Tennis, 12023 Lakeshore North Dr, Auburn, CA 95602.
