Harold A. Beaudoin

After spending 90 years enriching the lives of so many, Harold A. Beaudoin, known to his friends as "Bud," returned to the Lord on August 17, 2006.Bud grew up in the French-American community in Leominster, Mass.Bud received a degree in Business from Becker College in 1935 and was recruited by General Electric Co. to join its Business Training Program. In 1940, he married Margaret "Peg" Warren in Schenectady, New York. He earned his law degree from Suffolk University in 1954 and two years later was transferred to General Electric's Nuclear division office in San Jose as Director of Public Relations. In 1964, Bud left General Electric to pursue a new successful career in real estate as a broker.He and his wife, Peg, raised eight children. After Peg passed away in 1979, Bud married his present wife, Clara Murphy, who with her four children now formed a family of 12. He frequently mentioned how blessed he was to have married two great ladies and how proud of his expanded family he was, which combined, now numbers 56 including his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.YMCA was a very special organization for Bud who lived at the "Y" in Schenectady, NY as a young man in training. Over the years in the "Y" he served as vice president and chairman of numerous boards in Schenectady, New York and Santa Clara and San Jose, California. He also received the John D. Crummey Legacy Award for fostering the growth and stature of YMCA in Santa Clara Valley. As an alumni, he continued to support Becker College and was awarded a Doctor of Humane Letters. He also served as president of the Saratoga-Los Gatos Board of Realtors. He is an honorary member of the Saratoga Men's Club and the Rotary Club in addition to being an active participant in numerous professional and religious organizations as a member of the Sacred Heart Parish, Serra Club and Vocations for Priests. He was very instrumental in founding a center for new priests in San Jose and Stamford, Connecticut.He was a man who could balance his responsibilities both to his community and family. "Always leave a place better than you found it," was one of Dad's favorite mottos. His legacy lives on in the lives of everyone who knew him.The family extends their gratitude to Windchime of Marin as well as Hospice of Marin County for caring for Dad. Visitation 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. August 24, at Alameda Family Funeral & Cremation, 12341 Saratoga-Sunnyvale Rd., Saratoga. A mass in celebration of Bud's life will take place at Sacred Heart Church in Saratoga at 10 am on August 25, 2006 followed by graveside services. A reception at the church will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the YMCA of Santa Clara Valley, Hospice of Marin or a favorite charity.
