Ivi Kadaja

KADAJA, Ivi -- Born March 4, 1928 in Tallinn, Estonia, died on Wednesday, March 19, 2003 in Fremont, CA, she was 75 years old. At the age of 16, in 1944, with her family she fled the communist take-over of Estonia, ultimately arriving in Parkland, Washington in 1949. She eventually settled in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she met her husband to be August Kadaja. She was a passionate and avid reader, enjoyed music and writing, she wrote and published her own collection of Estonian poetry called 'Hetki'. She was very devoted to her family and proud of her heritage. She is survived by daughter Karen of Fremont, CA, sister Elvi Urv of Washington State and family in Estonia. She was the widow of the late August Kadaja. Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service, Sunday, March 23, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation starting at 12:00 p.m., held at Berge-Pappas-Smith Chapel of the Angels, 40842 Fremont Blvd., Fremont.
