I am shocked. I just discovered this as I randomly typed in names. I worked with Rita at Apple for several years. I read about her husband's death, and later hers. I came to Oak Hill for part of the vigil the night before, and talked to Jim some. I told him how Rita used to talk about him tormenting her dog by sitting on her favorite barstool. It got a big laugh out of him. I never would have expected him to go in the same year as his mother. Barbara and Randy, I met you at an Apple Christmas party one year. This has got to be a major shock to you and your family. Keep the faith.

Dear Gumbo,
I'll never forget the very first time that my mom (louise) told me about you. Yes I was if'y at first, until the day my mom handed me the phone to talk to you. yes I will admit I was nervous and I'm pretty sure you were too. After all our conversation turn out to be very good. It was so good that we were talking about chiefs on the Food Network, which I thought waas pretty cool, cause I never knew anyone that watches those and you did. The one one thing that I will miss very much, is your advice. It really help me out alot and boy when you gave advice you really gave it, but thats what I like cause you didn't care. I'll never forget the time that you and my mom flew me out to California. I was very anxious, cause I was finally able to meet the guy that I was talking to over the phone with, and to see why my mom was so much in love with you. My favorite thing out there, was when you took my mom and I to go watch the race cars pratice, and when we went to the car show that had over 3,000 cars. The one thing that I will never forget is when it was time for me to leave, I thought it was going to be easy for me and it turn out that it was hard. I got the chance to know you better and also I now know why my mom is so much in love with you. I never thought that would be the last time I saw you, but I will cherish every moment that I was able to spend with you. Thank you Gumbo for making my mom the happiest lady that I ever seen in my life. Thats what she needed and thats what you were able to give her. I'm not going to say bye cause I know your here with us in spirit and we will all meet up again.

Love Always
Sqiwigy

Dear Louise, Barbara & Family.

I am so sad for your great loss. Jim was a wonderful person. My daughter Melanie (Martin) Sohn, worked for Jim at Atari. They became such close friends, like brother and sister. I loved hearing all the stories of the wonderful times Melanie had working with Jim. Everyone who worked with Jim at Atari became a very close knit family. Jim is truely going to be missed by everyone. I will always remember Jim and his wonderful outlook on life such a fun and kind person. I send my deepest condolences, prayers of comfort and support in your healing. I know Jim is smiling down on all of you.
May God Bless all of you.
sincerely,
Yvonne Venaas

Woody-I remember meeting you in my dorm room my first day in San Diego, way back when. You and my sister, Toni, came to welcome me to town. You never treated me like "the little sister" and I thank you for that. I always loved seeing your smiling face. I will miss you much. Bye, dear Woody.

Jimmy Wallin,
When I moved to California next door to you back in 1994 I was not sure what to expect of my my new neighbor as I am sure you felt the same…. What I got was one of the best people I have ever had the privledge of meeting in my entire life.

Jim I am truly shocked that you are gone from us (you will always have a special place in my heart and memories) as our relationship grew into almost family. I hope you realize how much I appreciated all you did for me in my times of need as I sincerely tried my best to be there for you in yours my brother… We had lots of great times and you were one of the best neighbors a man could ask for. I did not have the opportunity to meet your father but heard you speak of him often. If he was anything like you Jim he was also an outstanding person.

I remember meeting Louise not so long ago and seeing how happy the two of you were together and when I drove away from your house I was sincerely happy for you as I thought you had made a wonderful decision in your personal life…

I know life was tough for you with your mom in her late stages of her illness but you never faultered. That Jim Wallin is amazing I thought… You always made it a point to have me over when she was visiting. I hope and pray you are at peace my friend and smiling down on us with your family right now as you all are a true blessing to everyone who was fortunate enough to have ever met any of the Wallin’s. I am so glad to have been blessed with your friendship…

I love and miss you Jim,

I had the pleasure of working with Jim, but for only a few years. He was one of the most down-to-earth people I've ever met. Even though our paths crossed not as frequently as I would have hoped, every time they did, it was like we had just seen each other yesterday. His time came much too soon, and he will be sorely missed. Best to his family.
