San Jose, CA
Jimmy John Mackie passed away July 3, 2022. A loving Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather, Jim was a lifelong San Jose Resident. "Mackie" graduated from Lincoln High School in 1965 and heroically defended our country in Vietnam from 68'-69'. Jim became a decorated member of the U.S. Army's 1st Infantry and earned the Bronze Star for Heroism in Battle, infantry badge, and Air Medal for his duty. Jim treated everyone as a friend and always opened his heart and arms to others. His friendship to those who knew him is unlike any other and will never be forgotten. His jokes, laugh, and the way he bellowed, "Five Golden Rings," each Christmas Eve will stay in our memories forever. Although his one of a kind, tough, exterior rarely cracked, he had a heart of gold. Mackie lived life his way and we respect that. Most of all though…He graced us with the gift of his life for 74 years and we will miss him dearly. And Jimmy John…Please keep it down up there.

We offer our condolences to Julie and all of Jim's family on his passing. We sure enjoyed his company, his sense of humor and his gentle heart when we shared good times at the American Legion. May he rest in peace and in our memories.

Spent many a friday or saturday night playing poker with Jim and the boys..even played tackle football in his living room ...Much to Fran's dismay!!great memories

Mackie was my friend,neigbor for close to ten years.I referred to mackie as my sports director,for he kept me up to date on all things happening in sports! Mackie will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace. DB HICKS
