My condolences to the Piazza family. I just heard about Joey's passing tonight. I am very sad but very happy to have enjoyed his friendship starting in kindergarten/elementary school. I was always incredibly fond of Joe as he was so outgoing and friendly. I was just the little sister of one of his friends but he was genuine and always took the time to talk to me. Everyone cared for him and he will be missed greatly.

I went to school with Joey at St. Chris, and I remember him as a funny, happy person who was friendly with everyone. I am very sad to hear of his passing and my prayers go out to his family. God bless you.

Joe, you are truley missed! I am so saddened with your loss. I remember when you told me of your illness and how positive you were, which is how you always were, smiling and laughing. That is how I choose to remember you. You always made me laugh, you lit up a room with your charisma. You will always be in my heart forever. To the Piazza Family, you are in my prayers and may god be with you in this most difficult time. Joe spoke often of what a great family and parents he had, he knew how loved he was.

Dear Piazza Family,
I was very sad to hear of Joe's passing. I attended Mitty with him and we were good friends during our Senior year. I will always remember hearing the bass coming from from his mini truck as he came to school or into the parking lot. Although we lost touch after high school, he was always in my thoughts when remembered my high school days. He will be missed and my deepest condolences to you for your loss. God Bless You.

My daughter Erin and I have loved Joe from the first time we met him at Brandy and Franks wedding. For Erin who was 10 Joe was her hero, she wanted to marry him and he always teased her that he would wait for her. What a wonderful loving human being in Joe. nessuna cosa al mondo potrà mai farci dimenticare i fantastici giorni trascorsi con Joe questa estate in sicilia.
joe con la sua forza ci ha insegnato a combattere sempre e non stancarsi mai.

La prima immagine che ho di te è quella che scendi di corsa dalle scale e corri dai cugini per uscire, un abbraccio forte e veloce, caldo e affettuoso e via come il vento, come se ci conoscessimo da una vita.
Sono felice di averti conosciuto, la tua venuta è stata un faro che ci ha illuminato tutti, hai riunito cugini che si erano allontanati nel tempo e rafforzato rapporti già consolidati. Ho vissuto solo 15 giorni della tua vita, ma sono stati una vita intera mai vissuta...quando ti hanno portato via all'aeroporto trattenevo i miei sentimenti nel non volervi lasciare andare...egoisticamente vi avrei voluto per sempre qui...
Ora ci guardi dall'alto, continueremo ad averti vicino perchè mi piace pensare che se porto le persone dentro il cuore queste non saranno mai lontane. Non il tempo, non le distanze, dividono le persone, ma l'assenza di amore nei loro cuori.

There is no love like that of a parent towards their children. We spend our lives trying to make sure that they are safe. As infants we enter their room to make sure they are not too cold, too hot and listen for their breath. As toddlers we child proof the house to make sure they don't get into hazardous situations. As teenagers we monitor their activites and their friends. As adults we say, " Be careful and call me". This terrible disease crept into Joe's body and your lives. I cannot even begin to find the words to express how sorry we are for your loss. Although we havn't seen each other socially over the last few years, I hold some very special childhood memories. Today we lay his body to rest but his spirit, his love and the memories will remain in our hearts until we are joined with our Heavenly Father.

This morning I was sad to see a familiar face in the paper that I had not seen in 20+ years. Joe and I were at St Chris together for grades 1-8 and while we were never really buddies I'll always remember him as a super nice guy. In 7th grade we built a Greek amphitheatre out of sugar cubes for a class project. We were short on glue and the thing fell over in its weakened state so we told everyone it got bombed out in WWII. I think that was Joe's idea. Clever. Prayers with you and your family.
