John Lundell
Oct. 13, 1927 - Jan. 17, 2018
Resident of Saratoga
John passed away surrounded by his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, engineer, traveler, photographer, church member, leader and friend to many. John married Coralyn Davis in 1953 and together they moved to California so he could finish his education at Stanford University. John spent 35 happy years at NASA Ames Research Center testing materials for heat shields for the Gemini and Apollo missions. In 1996, he received a medal from NASA for his work on the heat shield of the Galileo Probe to Jupiter. In his retirement, John spent much time with his family at their beloved Pajaro Dunes beach house. He served for many years on the board of directors at Parajo Dunes and also served on the board at The Sea Ranch Association. John is survived by wife Coralyn, daughter Karen (Michael) Green, son John (Sarah), son Keith and grandchildren Trevor, Evan, Kyla and Kendall. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of John's life at the Presbyterian Church of Los Gatos (Shannon Rd) on Saturday, Feb. 17th at 2:00 pm. Reception to follow.
