John Gregory Metzger, 98, passed away peacefully at home in Cupertino CA on November 11, 2018.
Born in St Louis, Missouri in 1920, John was youngest of 5 children born to Lambert and Elizabeth Metzger and the last surviving sibling. He went on to serve his country with distinction in the Army Air Corp during WWII as a Master Sergeant
He was employed by Western Electric and AT&T for 42 years. His final project before retirement was recycling the precious metals from the communications facilities.
John was a proud member of, and President of Bellarmine's Dads Club, and an active volunteer at St. Joseph of Cupertino Church. He was an avid gardener, sports fan, fisherman and crossword puzzler.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Geraldine (Miller), his son Gregory and his wife Peggy, his son Stephen and his wife Nancy, his son Joseph and his wife Jacquelyn, his daughter Alison Lettire and her husband James and his son Christopher and his wife Katie. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Church, 10110 N. DeAnza Blvd, Cupertino CA, Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 11:00am. Burial will be 10:00am November 30, 2018 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 22555 Cristo Rey Drive, Los Altos, CA
