John Pogue Obituary



John F. Pogue

Resident of Palo Alto

John F. Pogue entered into rest peacefully in Menlo Park, Wed. October 27, 2010.

John was born and raised in Rochester, NY. He enlisted in the Army on 23 July 1941. He was selected for OCS, commissioned in the Signal Corps, and assigned to Signal Corps Logistical Center in Philadelphia for 2 yrs. His duties took him to New Delhi, India, headquarters of the China, Burma, India Theater, where he maintained signal supplies for the U.S., British and Chinese Forces. After active duty, he returned to Rochester, he joined the reserves, and was accepted to Stanford University, earned a BA in psychology, then an MBA at the business school. He and Patricia have lived in Palo Alto ever since.

In the reserve program, he attended Command & General Staff College of the armed Forces. He was assigned to the Logistical command Unit at the Presidio of S.F. and held all staff positions. He was an instructor at the Command and General Staff School and Deputy Commandant. He was assigned to Civil Affairs Unit in Mtn.View as a G-4, retiring in 1975, proudly as a Colonel. John joined NASA in 1964 as a Contracting Officer working on the Venus Probe. He joined the Golden Bay Credit Union where he served for 25 yrs as Board Chairman. John was a life member of MOA where he met many friends.

John is survived by his wife of 27 years, Patricia. He has one daughter, Marcia & her husband Richard. Three Granddaughters: Erin, Kelly and Brianna and one great grandson. John is also survived by Patricia's son Steven, his wife Kris, sons Michael and Rob.

Memorial services will be held on Wed. Nov.10 at 2:00 P.M. at the Moffett Community Chapel, Bldg #87, Mtn.View. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Research in John's memory. Please view/sign guestbook at cusimanocolonial.com

My condolences and sympathy to Marcia and Patricia and family. I worked at Moffett Credit Union, now Golden Bay for 9 years of John's 25 year tenure.(1970-1979) He was always a gentleman and friend even through uncertain times.
