John Yasko Obituary

Untitled

John Michael "Mick" Yasko

Mick, as he was affectionately called, fell asleep in death on Feb. 8, 2007 at the age of 88. He was born on June 3, 1918 in Colver, Pennsylvania, the oldest of six children. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Evelyn, two sisters Helen Stanfa and Mary Tucker, his niece Jeanne Woodman and his two nephews Robert Ucker and Michael Stanfa. As a minister of Jehovah's Witnesses, Mick spent 25 years organizing large Conventions where his fellow worshippers gathered. For 23 years, Mick was assigned to a ministry in which he and his wife traveled in over 13 states. They visited numerous congregations of God's people, serving in the positions known by them as a Circuit and District Overseer. Thereafter, Mick continued to serve in the full-time ministry as a Pioneer and an Elder here in San Jose. Mick will be remembered as a very generous and kind man. He loved his God Jehovah with a complete heart and loved his dear wife and close companion, "Ev," as his own self. He was outstanding in his concern for the "little-one" of God's sheep and in encouraging young men to reach out for greater privileges and responsibilities in God's service, going out of his way to train them and offer upbuilding counsel. Mick always fulfilled his assignments, including his last assignment found at Matthew 24:13 "he that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved."Friends are invited to attend a memorial service given by Theodore Jaracz on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. at the Fremont Assembly Hall, 43400 Osgood Road, Fremont.

Brother Yasko has left his mark on so many across the country. It is a remarkable legacy that he leaves, one that many, hopefully, will learn from and follow. Thank you Sister Yasko for the self- sacrifice and love that you have shown throughout the years. Without you, it could not have been done.

I will remember Mick because of his quick wit and sense of humor. My heart goes out to his wife, the sweetest person I've ever known. She was the pearl in his crown. Those of you who are priveledged to have her in their lives, please take good care of her. You know you'll have Mick to answer to if you don't!

I will miss Bro. Yasco. He truly demonstrated his strength and tenderness with all he came into contact with. His love for Jehovah was evident in all his activities. His public prayers were heartfelt and encouraging. See you soon Mick.

Uncle Mick was the oldest of six children and was born in Colver, Pennsylvania. We loved him dearly as he was precious to us. We look forward to greeting him when all those from the memorial tombs will be called out and death will be no more. Until that time dear one, rest in a peaceful well-deserved sleep.
