San Jose
Born in Chicago, Ill. to a large Italian Catholic family, the youngest of 7 children, to Salvatore and Maria Grande who immigrated from Italy through Ellis Island in 1909. Josephine is predeceased by her loving husband, Carmen (Ginger) Gingerelli. They met while he was in the Navy during WWII. They raised their family in San Jose actively involved at St. John Vianney's school and church.
Josephine leaves behind a legacy of pure love & light, along with 5 loving children; Jerry (Dottie), Cathy (Sal), Marie, Theresa (Vern), and Chris (MaryAnn), 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom, you're home at last, reunited with dad and your family. We love you.

Josephine was a loving, kind, and caring woman. I always enjoyed our conversations and the times I saw her when I visited her daughter Marie. I'm sure she is watching over her children and smiling from above. God bless you!

Josephine always had a warm smile and never had a bad word to say about anyone. She was a loving and caring indvidual who loved to laugh. Josephine is greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of being a part of her life, no matter how small or large. May she be at peace with God, our Father.

With deep sympathy for the loss of your mother, I wish for you comfort from God in your time of grieving and celebrating Josephine's life. She was a very special individual. I remember her friendly smile; the twinkle in her eyes; her warm, welcoming hug; and her laughter. She shared with me the many things she was grateful for in her life, especially her five wonderful children. Josephine seemed to find the goodness in everyone and had a positive outlook on life. I shall remember her fondly and miss her very much. May she rest in peace in God's kingdom.

Hi nonnie. Although im so sad ill never hear your sweet "nonnieisms" in person, or feel the warmth of your hugs and kisses, i still feel so blessed to have experienced such a pure, genuine and unconditional love. I will forever miss seeing your sweet little self standing next to aunty meme in the driveway as mom and i headed home to Sacramento, youd wave until we were out of sight, always making sure we were off safely. I love you so so so much. I hope you know that. I hope you are experiencing immeasurable happiness and peace! Save me a spot my little nonna, keep it warm. Until i see you again.......

i had the true honor of knowing Josephine while caring for her beloved brother Joseph until his passing in 2003.
What a truly incredible, beautiful, gorgeous ray of sunshine and love she was, is and will always be.
The first words that come to my mind when i think of her are "holy woman"...because there was something so magical and "in touch" with the spirit that made me feel like i was in the presence of someone not often seen her. Wise, deeply loving, heart of gold, and with a love and honor of family that was so strong, so deep, it was palpable in the aura coming from and surrounding her. What a truly beautiful, beautiful woman, who i know touched so many.
And what an incredible family she has too, full of character, spunk, artistry, strength and beauty.
I am blessed to have known and grown from my time spent with Josephine and am a better person because of it.
A golden gift of true gorgeous in this world that is knowing shining in the highest of Heaven.
Real love and deep thankfulness to you Beautiful Josephine. You touched and enlightened the hearts and spirits of so many.

My sweet Aunt Josephine, I remember when I was lucky enough to live close to you, MeMe, Nicki and Andrew. You were such a strong positive, loving and supportive auntie. I will never forget your caring generous spirit and the way you made every problem seem a little smaller whenever you were around. I am happy to know you are with my Nana and the rest of your family. There was no light that shined brighter. My Grandmother Josephine embodied everything good in this world. She was and is a constant inspiration and a reminder of how we as humans should treat each other. And although her passing was sudden, my Nanie was a lady, and a lady always knows when to leave. I love you Nanie. I can't wait to see you again:-)

Josie!! My sweet sweet mother. I wasn't ready to let you go, but my heart is filled with joy just knowing you are at peace. You finally get to "stop up there," surrounded by your family and husband and all the most beautiful trees that you loved so very much. You were my rock and such a constant reminder in my life of how we as individuals should live our lives on this earth; ever grateful, ever compassionate, nonjudgmental, and always smiling.
