Judith Younse
Sept. 8, 1947 - June 14, 2021
San Jose, CA
Judith "Judy" Younse was a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister and friend. She passed away at home surrounded by family on June 14th, 2021 at the age of 73 after a nearly six year battle with cancer and other complications.
Judy was born to Theodore "Ted" and Rosemarie Bothelio on September 8th, 1947 in San Jose, CA. She grew up in Santa Clara, CA and graduated from Santa Clara High School. In 1966, she met Joe Younse on the Boardwalk in Santa Cruz, CA and two years later they were married. Together, Joe and Judy traveled the west coast, Europe, Northern Africa enjoying different cultures, new cities and one of Judy's biggest passions, food and wine. In 1981, Judy received her Masters degree in Social Services from San Jose State. She worked for the State of California for 27 years licensing child care. Later that same year she gave birth to their first daughter, Jodie. Their second daughter, Jamie was born 3 years later. As a family they enjoyed regular visits to Santa Cruz, Lake Tahoe, San Jose Family Camp and Hawaii.
Judy enjoyed wine, movies, television, slot machines and fishing. She was always aware of new movies whether they were blockbuster hits or offbeat independent films. There was hardly a TV show that she didn't watch or at least know of. Her favorite titles include The Wizard of Oz, The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Lost Boys, Elf, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (TV), The X-Files and Breaking Bad. In her retirement, she and Joe enjoyed fishing throughout the south Bay Area, discovering new local wineries and visiting Indian casinos. They continued their travels through Canada, across the United States and through Chile and Argentina, for wine and food, of course.
Judy is survived by her husband, Joe Younse, two daughters, Jodie Younse and Jamie Foley, mother Rosemarie Vandoorn, three granddaughters, Zoe-Marie Robinson, June Robinson and Thea Robinson, and two son in-laws, Ed Robinson and Paul Foley.
A celebration of life will be held in Santa Cruz in September.
