Julie Thompson Obituary

Julie Lee Thompson
Dec. 4th 1955 - Dec. 2nd 2021
Resident of San Jose
The world has lost some of its sparkle and grace. Born in San Jose, Julie graduated from Blackford High School in 1974 and went on to study art and interior design at West Valley College. Her passion for beauty was apparent in everything she created. Julie also worked in the high tech industry as a purchasing agent before complications from her cancer treatments forced her to retire.
Julie was beautiful inside and out. Her generosity and hospitality were legendary. She fed us when she could no longer eat. She kept memories of departed family members alive with her stories and tributes. She healed us with laughter. Julie was determined to live a joyful and meaningful life, regardless of her challenges.
Julie will be ever-present in the bits of sea glass on the beach, the fall leaves, and the aroma of holiday meals. Listen for her in Pachelbel's Canon, the crashing of the ocean's waves, and the calliope music of the carousel. She's in the summer blooms at Allied Arts, the whimsical cottages in Carmel, and the pumpkin patches of Half Moon Bay. She is the morning rain and the stars that light the night sky. Julie accomplished the most important thing anyone can do on this earth. She left it a better place.
Julie was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Lee, her little brother Joey and her stepson Michael. She is survived by her partner Michael ("Mick") Frenette and her sisters, Helen (Jim) Solinski and Alexandra (Chris) Marinshaw. Julie will be missed by her nephews Eliot, Alistair, Jerzy, and Carson as well as Mick's sons Christopher, Kevin, and John. She loved them all deeply. Julie also leaves behind many dear friends and legions of Pinterest followers.
In lieu of funeral services, please honor Julie's memory with a random act of kindness or a donation to the American Cancer Society.
Goodbyes are not forever. Goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean I'll miss you, until we meet again.

My wife and I met Julie in 1975 when we opened a Vintage Clothing store in the Campbell courtyard. It was right next to her Dad's thrift store, and Julie would come over to visit. I believe she was about 19 years old at the time. She would usually offer to cut my hair. She was always fun and vivacious, and anyone she met would be delighted to know her. She was smart and interesting, and she had a wicked sense of humor. We would sometimes run into her at Santana row or downtown Los Gatos over the years. We will miss seeing her smiling face.
