It was such a blessing and privilege to have Larry as my father-in-law. He meant so much to me and he had always treated me with kindness and respect. I really enjoyed spending time with him and my wife (Amy) having good times and many laughs. He was such a generous and thoughtful man and will never be forgotten. I love you Larry!!!!

Dear Beverly Reeder and family,
We would very much like to send our sincere condolenses to your family.
Knowing Mr. Reeder was quite a pleasure. He was cherry, humerous, and most of all a man who loved his family so very much. We enjoyed seeing him on so many of your family occasions.
I recently lit a candle at church in his honor.
Please take care of yourself. That is what he would want for you.
Kind regards,
P.C. and Jean Lee

I have three great memories of Larry that I would like to share. Sorry for the length of this. One of them changed my life for ever. The first shows the great sense of humor and the protective father he was to Jenny, Tracy, Beth & Amy. I think it was around 1976, I just started dating Tracy. We lived almost directly across the street. I got in my truck and pulled up and parked in front of the driveway. The garage door was up and Larry was doing something at his work bench. I got to the entrance of the garage door and I could see clearly what he was doing....he was cleaning his shotgun. With out looking up he said "so...what are your plans for tonight?" I started to laugh and said something like " this is great, I'm going to have to remember this for when I have a daughter." He looked at me, his eyes got real wide and he said " really...I'm not kidding, what are your plans?" I said we would probably just go park somewhere and make out. He smiled, startted to laugh. He knew I was kidding. He got his point accross and we both had a good laugh about it. Classic Larry Reeder.
The second memory I have of Larry was in early 1978. My sister's husband had a tragic accident in Southern California. I had to get down there to her. I was to young to rent a car, so Larry bought 2 airline tickets, flew down to So Ca with me, rented a car, drove for 2 hours to deliver me to my sister. He got back into the rental car, drove back to the airport and went home. That was Larry Reeder. He would go out of his way to help someone.
Third memory changed my life forever. It was Dec of 1978. I had just gotten engaged to my now wife Jill, when we found out she was going to have a baby. I was working part time in a restuarant and going to De Anza. I had no health insurance and had no way to pay for all of this. Lary called me and said he could get me a temp job as a tech at Raychem where he worked. If things worked out with me, they would hire me on as a permanent employee and I could get full benefits. I'm still there and if I hadn't left for a few years, I would just be completing my 34th year there. That was Larry Reeder. It didn't matter who you were, he was looking out for you.
Beverly, Jenny, Tracy, Beth and Amy: I am so sorry for your loss. I have 3 great memories of Larry, thank you for those. I know there are so many more stories just like these. It was an honor to know him and I am sure I am a better person for knowing him. Rest in peace Larry.

Mrs Reeder, Jenny, Tray, Beth and Amy - I'm so sorry to hear Mr. Reeder has passed. I have such great memories of growing up and hanging out with your family - doing things that I never would have experienced without him and all of you. I felt so blessed to be included in family outtings - and to just hang out at your place. He will truly be missed - but remembered fondly!

Dear Reeder family-
I was so sorry to hear of Larry's passing. When I think of Larry I will always remember him as a very loving husband and father, a very brave, strong man that fought his cancer with love and support from his whole family. His presence in the world will be missed by all who knew him no matter how briefly. “Released from earthly bonds, he is free to soar with the eagles all the way to heaven.”

Maybe because we're so far away, it's hard to believe that Uncle Larry is gone. He was always so full of life and laughter that it seemed it would go on forever. Had I've known 2 years ago when I hugged him goodbye that it would be the last time, I would've held on a little longer. Love you Uncle Larry. Sending love to all of you, cousins, and to you too, Aunt Bev.

Mr Reeder, although he'd say call me Larry when I grew up, I just couldn't, out of respect to him. You girls, Jenny ,Tracy, Beth and Amy were so lucky to have him as your dad. HE WAS THE DAD THAT I WISHED I'd HAD!!! So sorry for your loss, but what memories you have. And what love. He was the best Husband, Father and I'm sure Grandfather in the world. and to Mrs Reeder - you were so lucky too!!! Thinking of you at this time. Love to you all!!!

I don't know if Larry ever knew how important he was in my life. I saw him as a Grandfather and a mentor and valued the time we spent up at the cabin together. I would gush about his humor and hospitality to any friend who accompanied my family to Michigan. I miss Larry, but will look for him sitting at the Ponderosa with Chippie on his lap.

We will miss Larry coming to the Ponderosa in the summer. He would brighten up the whole neighborhood. He made wonderful signs for the neighbors sheds and garages. We loved stopping for a good talk and to see if the chippie was eating a peanut out of his hand. What a wonderful man!

Bev, we are so sorry to hear of Larry's passing. We will always hold dear, the fond memories of our little visits with the two of you on your porch at Sharon. Drinking a glass of wine (because he always did say "it's 5:00 somewhere!) and sharing fun stories. Larry was a special man and we will miss him. Take care of yourself and please keep in touch.
