Loretta Ratajczak Obituary
Resident of Pleasanton
The beloved Loretta "Laurie" M. Ratajczak, age 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior on the morning of April 19, 2016. She passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loved ones, in Pleasanton CA.
She was born in 1926, the youngest of 8, to Casimere and Agnes Novak. After growing up in Indiana, and meeting her husband, Paul Ratajczak Sr., she moved to East Chicago and then kept heading west. She spent 5 years in Turlock, raised her family in San Jose, retired in Hollister and spent the last 20 years in Pleasanton.
She joins her husband and son in heaven; and is survived by one sister and brother, 7 of her children and their spouses, 20 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. She always spoke about the importance of faith and family and loved her family deeply.
She lived out her faith by praying the rosary, attending Saint Augustine's church, loving the Lord, and all those around her. She enjoyed the simple things in life such as reading, dining with friends and family, spring time, flowers, Eggo waffles and singing Christmas carols year round. Those close to her would tell you she was admired for being adventurous, gentle, kind, strong-willed, traditional, and wise.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 24th at 4 PM with the Rosary at 5 PM at Graham-Hitch (4167 First Street in Pleasanton); followed by a memorial mass on Monday, April 25th at 10 AM at Saint Augustine Catholic Church (3999 Bernal Avenue in Pleasanton). Please make any donations in her honor to Catholic Charities.
Laurie will be greatly missed, remembered by many, and cherished forever in our hearts.
