Died peacefully on October 24, 2011 surrounded by her loving daughters. Lorraine Margaret Pengel was born on October 31, 1924 in San Francisco to the loving parents of Henry Pengel and Mary McGovern. She was a graduate of St. Charles grammar school and of St. Brigid high school. As a young woman, Lorraine worked for the president of Standard Oil while putting her husband through dental school. She was also actively involved in the war efforts at home. Lorraine was the loving wife of George Grenfell (deceased). George and Lorraine were married on September 13, 1952 at St. Cecilia's Church. They were married for 57½wonderful years. George and Lorraine started their married life in San Francisco and later moved to San Mateo where they raised their three daughters in St. Gregory's Parish. Lorraine is survived by her daughters Mary Ness (Robert), Sally Grenfell (Andrew) and Joan Kingery (Todd) and her five grandchildren Elizabeth, Matthew, Caroline, Ellen, and Michael. She was the sister of Henry Pengel (deceased) and is survived by his wife, LaVerne Pengel and their children, Lorraine's nieces and nephews. Lorraine was active in her parish and community: a member of CFM, the Gregorians, the Auxiliary Cafe for Stanford Children's Hospital and a long time bridge player. She was a wonderful wife and mother and a blessing in our lives.

Friends and family are invited to a memorial mass which will be held on Thursday, November 3 at 1:30 P.M. at St. Gregory Church in San Mateo.
