Louis Schmidt
February 13, 1925 - December 1, 2021
Resident of Cupertino
Louis Schmidt was born in San Francisco California a third generation Schmidt. He attended Emerson Grammar School, Lowell High School, undergraduate at San Jose State, Masters at Sanford University, and finally dental school at the University of the Pacific. Louis opened his private practice in Sunnyvale, CA and practiced dentistry from that time until well into his eighties. With his wife Colleen, he was a long-time active member of the Lions Club of Sunnyvale and Lifetime member of the Santa Clara Dental Society.
Lou Joined the Navy and served in the Pacific arena throughout World War II. He cherished his time to serve his country and gained life experience from his years as a young man in the Navy.
One of his greatest passions in life was Skiing. He taught both his children to ski at an early age and both became passionate about the sport as well. He was an expert skier and an amazing athlete. An accomplished ice skater, Louis and his family would often skate on the weekends together. Another passion of his was flying. Flying out of Reid Hillview Airport he became a private pilot and belonged to the Flying Country Club where he enjoyed many years in the air. With his encouragement, his son also followed his love of flying and they spent hours enjoying flying together. Louis also loved playing tennis and in his later years played often with his brother Ernie and longtime partner Lenore.
He loved to travel and did so for many years as well. He was loved and admired by all who knew him and was always ready for an adventure.
Lou is survived by his two children, 3 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren and his long time partner. He lived to the ripe old age of 96 and kept his humor and love of life throughout his long and fruitful Life.
