Marcello Benno Paoletti, 37 years old, died tragically following an accident on the Bogue Chitto River in Louisiana on May 21, 2005.

Moving to Los Altos in 1985, I had the great fortune of being the "girl across the street" from Marcello. We formed a fast and long lasting friendship.

Marcello had an amazing spirit, a kind heart, a wonderful sense of humor and he was a loyal friend. I know that everyone who ever met him has a fond memory or fun tale to share. These memories will keep him close to us in spirit and thought and always in our hearts.

We will think of you always and forever..Dad and Gayle

I didn't know Marcello very well. It was back in high school and I was a freshman while he was a senior.

Marcello was one of the kindest students I had the pleasure of knowing. He was so mild and easy to be around - a wonderful person and friend.

I'm grateful I had the opportunity to know him.

Marcello was a very special person and we are proud to have known him as a friend for much of his life. As a child, he visited our home and made brownies. We always looked forward to visits with Marcello and watched him grow up with so much purpose. Yet he maintained his ever loveable nature and his sense of humor. He was a gentleman in every sense of the word. The world is a richer place for Marcello's presence. We will always carry Marcello's spirit in our hearts.
