Mark was born in San Jose, CA and unexpectedly passed away at 42 years old, in Sacramento. A Leland High School graduate in 1991, he went on to attend San Jose State University earning a BA in Economics. He worked for the Gartner Group as a market research analyst, captivating audiences in the US and Asia with presentations on the complex packaging in our iPhones and Galaxies which he eschewed, for a flip phone that was "dumber than he was." An avid fisherman, Mark was in his element fishing with friends at Almaden Lake Park and Calero Reservoir in San Jose, seeking out steelhead in a boat on the Trinity River, or telling anybody who would listen to him about the 40 pound salmon that "got away" at the Sacramento-American River confluence.
Mark was preceded in death by parents Gale and Mary "Pat" Stromberg. A dedicated family man, Mark married the love of his life, Leana Barrantes Stromberg, in December, 2002, during a unique wedding ceremony in Leana's childhood home of Estelí, Nicaragua.
Mark is the father to son Mark Alexander and daughter Celina-Marie del Carmen. He is also survived by his sister and closest confidant, Venus Stromberg Bird and cousins Patrick Sullivan, Renee Keller, Lisa, Eric, Kerri, and Brian Livingston, and Christina Wohlgemuth.
Mark's funeral mass will take place Saturday, April 11, 2015, at noon. St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 307 Montrose Dr., Folsom, CA 95630. A memorial fund for Mark's children has been established at the website Go Fund Me.
