Dr. Marvin Gorenberg passed peacefully at home, with his loving family and friends present on the last day of 2010. Always remembered for his sharp wit and his devotion to family and friends, Marvin possessed an unflinching moral compass that directed all of his movements. His legacy will always remain with his beloved family. He leaves his wife of 46 years, Bobbye Debenport Gorenberg, his children, Martha Gorenberg Bronitsky (husband Charlie), of Foster City, CA; Dr. David Matthew Gorenberg (wife Brenda Whaley) of Seattle, WA; Anne Gorenberg Scalise (husband Michael, Col, USMC) of Stuttgart Germany. His grandchildren, William Martin Bronitsky of Berkeley, CA, Katherine Rose Scalise and Anthony John Scalise III of Stuttgart, Germany. His three brothers, Art and Ed Goren, Dr. Daniel Gorenberg (wife Louise). Beloved brother-in-law Bob Debenport (wife Stephanie), James Debenport (wife Patti) and many treasured nieces and nephews.

Graduating from Chicago's Roosevelt High School in 1953, Marvin went on to attend the University of Illinois Navy Pier, Loyola University, and the University of Illinois School of Dentistry. Following a tour in the Air Force, Marvin went on to private Dental practice in Santa Clara for 38 years.

Marvin was a member of the Dental Society of Santa Clara County and a long time active member of Temple Emanuel in San Jose. He loved classical music, classic cars, woodworking, gardening and traveling with his wife and many friends.

Services are to be held on Tuesday January 4, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Temple Emanuel, 1010 University Avenue, San Jose, CA. Burial to follow at Los Gatos Memorial Park, Shalom Gardens.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Temple Emanuel Preschool or the Beethoven Society at San Jose State University.
