Maurice P. Baker passed away peacefully in his home on the evening of July 8, 2017, at the age of 100. He lived a long and wonderful life.
Born on August 19, 1916, in Manson, Iowa to Joseph and Mary Baker, Maurie was the youngest of eight. Raised in Pomeroy, the next town over, in a beautiful three story home built by his father, Maurie graduated from St. Ambrose College where he met Mary "the most beautiful girl in Iowa." Their love would span from Iowa to California, celebrating more than 70 years of marriage that blessed them with seven children.
Maurie was a devout Catholic with a special devotion to the rosary. He lived a life proud of his Iowa roots, German heritage, and his 40-year career in the trucking business. Above all he was a true Patriarch, full of love and pride for his family to whom he was forever devoted.
Maurie is survived by his children Ronald, Susan (Del), Nancy, Linda (Alex); grandchildren Lynda, Eric (Heather), Neil (Jennifer), Stephen, Sean, Sara (Dave), Mark (Mary), Michael (Jessica), Joseph (Maya), Amanda, Justin, Lindsay; great-grandchildren Nicholas, Emily, Taylor, Matthew, Anthony, Colin, Lucas, Harley, Zackary, Jacob, Jaxson, Mary.
Maurie was preceded into heaven by his loving wife Mary; children Deborah, Stephen, and Joseph; great-grandchildren Tyler and Logan.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, August 19th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Martin of Tours Church, 200 O'Connor Drive, San Jose.

My heart and prayers go out to all of you. Maurie was such a kind and quiet man but his love for his family was always so obvious. I loved his smile. Love to all.
