Yo Michael,
Knowing you was a life-changing experience, to say the least. The changes are still happening at this end, my friend. You must have caught up with Gus by now. The two of you must be telling each other stories and laughing at me still trying to figure things out down here. Thanks for all of your stories and the adventures they led us through from "Free Black Ink" to the "Imagine Peace Project," and "Don't Go to the Beach." Thanks for including me in your wonderful family. Thanks most of all for challenging me to ask myself tough questions and to ultimately challenge myself--to move beyond an uneasy complacency, and to continue reaching for difficult but ultimately fulfilling truths.
To God we belong and to God we return.
Peace and blessings,
Black Ink

Michael Buck was one of the most inspiring people I've ever known. No matter how many times Michael fell he always got up with a smile on his face and the determination to get something done.
For years, I had his saying
on the wall in my office:
"WIN What's important NOW"
I have a notebook full of quotes from his grandmother and lessons in inspiration & loyalty from his father and mother.

I have not known Michael for a very long time (only met him physically for about two weeks in 2014) but again it does not need a long time to know what a fine gentleman he was and for his warmth to get permanently imprinted into our memories.
Michael was jolly, light hearted and quick with a smile. When we talked, it was like we had known each other forever. Advising me about business, farming and how he would one day like to visit Uganda. He was perplexed by how simple life is here and how easily one could startup a thriving business. I missed the opportunity to guide him through the warmth and peculiar culture of Uganda. I believe it would have been a fitting gift to him.
It is therefore, with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to you Michael Buck. I am also joyed that I got an opportunity to celebrate your life. Rest well Ssebo.

When someone we love falls asleep in death the memories we have of them become our treasure, may those cherished memories of a life well lived and Gods promise at John 6:40 bring you a measure of peace and comfort during this most difficult time. My sincerest condolences to the family

I feel blessed to have known Michael, he was such a wonderful true soul; punctual, trustworthy and proactive. He loved African shirts- his daishikis and sandals.
Perfect Love: perfect love, love yourself, believe in yourself. His face lit up when he said those words. I miss him terribly.....Thank you Michael for everything.
