We think of you every single day. You have some many beautiful people that love and miss you and I have had the great pleasure of getting know a lot of them. I hold you so close to my heart as we navigate thru the changing justice system. I did not know you but for some reason your death has shooken me a lot and it has been a while now. I look on the internet all the time hoping to find stories on how the boys who killed you were put to justice. I don't know how anyone could take a life and I am sorry you had to leave your family so soon. I never had the courage to write because I never knew you. But I just wanted to let you know you affected people you didn't even know and I hope that means something to you. Keep watching over your family like I know you are and know you are still thought about.

I dont know if this will be read but I felt strongly to express my condolences. I am so affected by the horrible death of your beautiful child, Micheal. My sister was murdered at 20 years old. Her killer was never brought to justice. I am hear to say that "closer" is something that I don't believe in. However, justice IS. I do pray that Michael's family get the justice that is owed to them and to Michael.
I never knew Michael, but he seemed like a gentle soul. I know that his one year aniversary of his death is tomorrow, November 10th. I have been praying for The Russel's family. I KNOW HOW THAT ONE YEAR ANIVERSARY FEELS. I saw my parents go through such hell. The holidays are soooo difficult. I felt compelled to write this message tonight, to tell you that there are people out here who have not forgotten your little boy. He remains in our hearts, minds, and prayers. God be with you

I met Michael, coming home one day early. He was playing playstation with my son and another friend. he was respectful and seemed to be a real nice kid.I am sure he is teribly missed and my heart goes out to the Russel family.

Hey Buddy, I know that you're busy just hangin with the big man from above, I just wanted to let you know that you mean the world to me man...and that I miss hanging out with you so much. It is just so hard walking home by myself now, this never should have happened to you. There are times when I look through the contacts in my phone and I scroll by your name...I feel as if I could call it, and you will pick up and be on the other line. I never got to say good-bye to you, or give you one last high five. We didn't even get to hang out the next day, just like we planned. Insted what I got was, "Ill see you tomorrow". It has taken me some time to heal, there is still a lot of damage, from the shock-wave that hit my heart. This internal scar reminds me of the fun times we should of had...but is slowly being filled with the memories we share. So spread your wings and fly, but don't wait for me, because Ill catch up.

To Michael's parents, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your son. I remember him coming over with his dad to visit my son and grandson he was the sweetest and respectful little boy. I had not seen Mikey for a few years now but never forgot him and was shocked to hear the news. I know words can not comfort you right now but your baby is now safe from the violence this world has shown him. I pray for you to have the courage and strenth to go on with your lives. Mikey would want that I am sure.

I didn't know if Michael until today, when a friend of his called my sign shop and ordered some Memorial decals for Michael.
I am so sorry for your loss. I will keep Michael and his family in my prayers. I understand the pain, as I have lost family members in the last year.

It has been many years since I have seen Michael, however I do know his father Carl. When I received the call (from our mutual friend) I could not believe that yet ANOTHER child has lost their life so young. Words can NEVER express how hurt my heart is as a mother of two children. Hey! I am so sorry what happen! I was SHOCKED to hear what happened to Mike! He was a really good friend of mine at Bernal School. He hung out with me and my friends everyday at break and lunch. I met Michael his freshmen year while I was a sophomore. All I know and hear are good things about him. He was truly the sweetest boy you could have ever talked to.
