Monaucher Saffarnia Obituary

Monaucher Saffarnia
Oct. 21, 1938 - Sept. 15, 2021
San Jose
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Monaucher Saffarnia on sep 15, 2021. Most people who knew him, called him Manu. Manu passed away after a near 3 years battle with ALS at age of 82.
Monaucher was born in Lahijan, Iran on Oct 21, 1938, to a family of 7 brothers and sisters. He grew up in Lahijan where he also met his wife. He went to military school and after marrying his sweetheart, they moved to Tehran. Monaucher had 3 children in Iran and in 1980 had to suddenly leave Iran for Austria and eventually he settled in San Francisco in Sep 1983.
Monaucher worked hard all his life to give his family the best life they could have, and they are eternally grateful to him. He had a prestigious position in Iran after he completed his university studies. After moving to California, he had to change careers and worked as a banker at Citibank for nearly 34 yours, first in downtown San Francisco and then Los Gatos branch. He retired in 2018.
His biggest joys were his wife, 3 children and his 5 grand children who all look up to him as a gentleman and a man of principal and strength. He will be missed.

I remember Mr. Saffarnia as being a friendly and helpful person in his position at Citibank. We always said a few words. He was a perfect gentleman and I will remember him with great fondness. Loving condolences to his family and friends.
