Nancy, daughter, wife, mother, and friend, passed away on April 20, 2016. She was born in San Francisco on April 1, 1939. She is preceded in death by her parents, Al and Nancy Steger, and her husband, Chris Hunt. She leaves behind her daughter Jennifer (Mark), sister Eileen (Rob), nephew Scott (Sandy), their boys Jake and Eli, loving partner Jim, and many relatives and lifelong friends.
Nancy met and married Chris while teaching in Germany. They enjoyed 27 years of marriage, traveling, and entertaining. A few years after Chris' passing, she met Jim Strom. He was a rock of support and love, especially during her illness. Nancy fought with bravery, courage, and grace.
Nancy touched the lives of many students for 30 years. She began teaching in Cupertino, went to Germany, followed by Fort Irwin, and worked at St. Christopher's School, where she taught for 20 years. She loved visiting with friends, gardening, walking, reading, and playing games. She loved fashion and was always ready to go shopping. However, when the 49ers were playing, everything else was put aside. She did volunteer work at Good Samaritan Hospital, Clothes Closet, and the Willow Glen Library. She was a devout Catholic and a long time parishioner of St. Christopher's Parish.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Cabebe and his staff for their care and support over the years. They cared for her like their own, treated her with dignity, respect, and greeted her with a warm smile, even when she was not feeling well.
Please join us at a Memorial Mass on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 5:00pm at St. Christopher's Church, 2278 Booksin Ave (at Curtner), San Jose, and a celebration of life, immediately following in the Walsh Hall. Private Interment. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made either to the St. Christopher's School or Presentation High School Endowment Fund.
