Nicholas Galiotto Obituary

Nicholas B. Galiotto
June 8,1936 - March 12, 2022
Resident of Mountain View
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Nicholas Bert Galiotto on March 12, 2022 following a two year battle with cancer.
A beloved and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and great uncle, he is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Rebecca, his son, Jerry, grandchildren, Shannon, Ally & Brady, their Mother, Jill, and nephews & nieces, Michael, Steven, Patrick, Cathy, Theresa & John, and many great nieces & nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Salvador & Carmelle, his son, David, siblings, Dave & Hope, & niece, Carol.
Nick was born and raised in San Jose and from an early age was instilled with a strong sense of family, community and civic duty. So it came as no surprise when after graduating from Bellarmine College Preparatory and Santa Clara University that he began a long and distinguished career dedicated to public service; 26 years with the Mountain View Police Dept (attaining the rank of Captain), selection as the Santa Clara Grand Jury Foreperson, appointment to the Mountain View Environmental Planning Commission, elected and re-elected to the Mountain View City Council and serving a term as the Mayor of Mountain View.
In retirement he continued as an active participant in the community through his service on the Boards of many local non-profit organizations such as the Mtn. View Kiwanis Club, the Mtn. View Historical Association and KMVT Public Access Television, just to name a few.
An avid sports fan, his hobbies included following the SF & SJ Giants, SF Forty-niners, and GS Warriors, but his greatest joy in life was frequent gatherings with family, friends and colleagues.
Nick was an inspiring role model for us all and will be forever remembered for his caring heart, integrity, passion and leadership.
A Memorial Mass will held at 2 pm on Sat. April 23rd at St. Joseph Church at 582 Hope St., Mountain View.
The family wishes to thank the Kaiser Hospice caregivers with special thanks to Evangeline Lopez and Nidia Coronado.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations in Nick's memory be made to the Mountain View Public Safety Foundation (MVPSF.Org/Donate). Please view/sign guestbook: cusimanocolonial.com
