Resident of Saratoga
Quentin Burden "QB" passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 11 2013 after a year-long struggle with Prostate Cancer. He is predeceased by his father Oscar Burden, his mother Pearl Hansen (Ray), his son Jeffrey L. Burden, and first wife Gloria Burden, his step granddaughter Rachael L. Barnett, and his wife of over 50 years, Shirley J. Burden. He is survived by his stepchildren James M. Holliman (Marie), Rebecca A. Barnett (Eric), Victoria L. Holliman; his grandchildren, Josh (Pam) Burden and Dori Deffit, granddaughter Adriana, and Step Grandchildren Hilary and Alexa Holliman, and Aaron J. Barnett; and his long time beloved friends Jim Loos, James Wenzel and the Dr. Babienco family, and his aviation colleagues.
QB served in the Navy from 1941-1946, worked as a Test Pilot for Douglas (Boeing) in Palmdale, Ca and relocated with his family to Saratoga, CA in 1961 to work for Lockheed, performing as a Lockheed Exec Transport pilot, as an Experimental Test Engineer, and as an Experimental Test Pilot for various programs, particularly noteworthy the Army YO3A program (Quiet Bird) where he flew missions in Vietnam 1969-1970 and the RPV program until his retirement in 1982. QB was also a fellow of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots (SETP). He was also honored by the California Pilots Association at Hiller Museum in San Carlos, CA. Quentin loved to pilot aircraft, garden, play music, entertain friends, ski, play bridge, walk and jog, golf and loved to attend SIRs golf and luncheon activities. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday 6/28/13 at 2:00 pm at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 14103 Saratoga Ave, Saratoga, CA. Donations in his honor may be made to the SETP Foundation, American Cancer Society and Alzheimer's Foundation.

QB,I was 21 and a crew chief with the Army on the YO-3A in Vietnam. When you came over to solve issues with the YO-3A all of us knew of your incredible back ground as a courageous test pilot. You were "THE PILOT." I am glad I had a chance to chat with you about the program. RIP. Kurt Olney
